Rofine Stockholm is based on the eastern Costa del Sol, at Higuerón and South Beach in Benalmádena, and most of our work sits between Málaga and Fuengirola — new-build villas and penthouses in El Higuerón, Higuerón West and Reserva del Higuerón, apartments in Benalmádena and Fuengirola, hillside houses in Mijas, city apartments in Málaga. We also take projects further west, in Marbella, Estepona and Sotogrande, but this is the coast we know street by street.

Most properties in this stretch are recent construction, so the value is in editing the developer specification rather than rebuilding: layout adjustments, bespoke carpentry, lighting, storage and a furniture plan drawn around the view.
Because we are based here, site visits happen the same week, deliveries into the Higuerón developments are coordinated locally, and snagging at handover is followed through in person rather than by email from another country.
Scandinavian design thinking suits these homes — restrained materials, honest carpentry, generous storage and rooms that work in daily use. We work in English, Swedish and Spanish, so owners and contractors are each spoken to in their own language.
One studio, the whole chain
Whatever the location, the commission covers the same ground: measured survey and revised plans, lighting and carpentry design, material specification, contractor tendering and supervision, procurement, delivery and installation.
The advantage of keeping it in one place is accountability — there is no gap between the drawing and the person on site checking that it was built that way.
New builds, penthouses and turnkey delivery
For a new-build villa or apartment, the earlier we are involved the more can be changed at cost: electrical and lighting positions, kitchen layout, finishes and joinery, agreed with the developer before completion.
For penthouses, ceiling heights, sliding-glass thresholds and the terrace shape the plan. The terrace is designed at the same time as the interior, in the same palette, so the two read as one space.
Turnkey means the property is handed over complete: furnished, styled, snagging closed, nothing left on the owner's list.
West of Marbella
Towards Estepona, Benahavís and Sotogrande, plots are larger and projects are more often full renovations or new-build fit-outs, with longer programmes and more contractor coordination.
Around Marbella itself, work is split between apartment re-plans and villa renovations, where services, bathrooms and the link between house and garden usually do the most work.
Designed for strong light
Coastal light is unforgiving. We choose surfaces that hold up to it — lime plaster, honed stone, solid timber, linen — and plan lighting in layers so a room that is bright at noon is still comfortable at ten in the evening.
Shade, cross-ventilation and where the sun lands in each season are part of the plan, not an afterthought.

- Which part of the coast do you know best?
- The eastern Costa del Sol: El Higuerón, Higuerón West and Reserva del Higuerón, Benalmádena, Fuengirola, Mijas and Málaga. The studio is based on this stretch, so most of our projects are within a short drive.
- Do you take work further west?
- Yes — Marbella, Estepona, Benahavís and Sotogrande, where projects are more often full renovations with longer programmes. Our day-to-day base remains Higuerón and Benalmádena.
- Do you charge for travel between locations?
- Site visits within the areas listed on this page are included in the project fee. Anything further is agreed in writing before it is incurred.
- Can you take on a single room or terrace?
- Yes, provided it is a space where a considered plan makes a difference — a kitchen, a main bedroom suite, a penthouse terrace. We will say so if we think the budget is better spent elsewhere.
- What does a project usually take?
- It depends entirely on scope and permitting. Furnishing and styling a completed new build is a matter of weeks to a few months; a full renovation is considerably longer. We give an indicative programme with the first proposal.
